NEW PATIENTS
Come in today! We will discuss your condition, perform an examination, and answer any questions. Together, with in-office treatment and home care therapies, we help you manage or resolve your condition so you can focus on the important things in life.
We are dedicated to your health– if we can’t help you, we will do our best to get you the right support.
Your first visit to the office will typically be the longest, approximately 1 hour. You will need to fill out some paper work beforehand. We can email them to you or you can download them directly above, that way you can have them filled out prior to coming in. Once completed, we will perform a thorough health history and physical exam, followed by an appropriate treatment.
The first part of your visit with us will be spent gathering information about the specific complaint with which you came into the office, as well as a comprehensive past health history. We like to get to know our patients on a personal level to have a complete picture.
Based on your responses during the history, we will perform a focused exam to determine the exact cause of your pain as well as any contributing factors. An x-ray may be recommended if we feel it is warranted for further investigation of your condition.
A typical treatment includes soft tissue massage, followed by a chiropractic adjustment. This term in itself can sound scary but be assured the adjustment is safe. The doctor will discuss the technique before performing the adjustment, so you know what to expect. Don’t be afraid to speak up, if there is something you don’t like, we will use alternative techniques that can be just as effective. The doctor also utilizes several soft tissue manipulation techniques, which are effective at breaking down scar tissue that forms after an injury, thereby restricting motion. These techniques help promote blood flow and stimulate the healing process. We may also go over rehabilitative exercises with you that will help with your recovery process.
Chiropractic is a primary health care profession that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscle, bones) and the effects of these disorders on general health.
Chiropractic is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling. They have over 6000 hours of training over the course of 3-4 years of post-graduate medical education.
The most common procedure performed by chiropractors is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by applying a rapid, controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement as a result of tissue injury. This can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive/sustained stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that cause inflammation, pain, and limited mobility. Manipulation of the affected joint and surrounding tissues restores motion, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal.
